 Brief History
46

Thin Film Engineering Laboratory was incorporated in Zushi City which was the first commercial producer of antireflection coatings on optical lenses.

52

Reorganized into Shonan Optical Thin films Laboratory and transferred to Togoshi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo

60

Multilayer thin film division was separated from Shonan Optical Thin films Laboratory and incorporated into Vacuum Optics Corporation of Japan (VOCJ)

61

Commissioned by Research & Development Corporation of Japan (JRDC) to develop multilayer thin-film optical coatings. The first plant was constructed in Togoshi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo to start the development program.

63

Succeeded in the development of multilayer thin film coatings. Started their commercial production after the successful development was authorized by the Development Council of JRDC. Started the prototype production of 'shading spectacle lens' with an award from Tokyo Regional Bureau of International Trade and Industry (TRBIT) as an export and prototype production incentive for small and medium-sized companies.

64

Increased capital to 2m yen. Started production of photoelectric film thickness monitors after the acquisition of the patent license of 'Photoelectric Apparatus and Methods for the Monitoring of Coating Thickness' from the Agency of Industrial Science and Technology.

69

Increased capital to 5m yen. A new plant in Nakahata, Gotemba City  was constructed. Received an award from the New Technology Development Foundation to develop the 'Production Technology of Complete Anti-Reflection Films'.

71

Increased capital to 10m yen. Received an award for technological innovation from TRBIT for the prototype production of 'high quality laser mirrors'.

77

Increased capital to 20m yen. Expanded the Gotemba plant. Received an award for technological innovation from TRBIT for the study on 'excimer laser mirrors'.

79

Increased capital to 30m yen. Acquired the patent license for 'high frequency ion plating' from JRDC for the production of interference coatings.

80

Received an award for technological innovation from TRBIT for the prototype production of 'high durability cold mirrors'.

83

Increased capital to 40m yen. Set up Osaka Sales Office. Constructed the Gotemba Second Plant.

85

Succeeded in the development of the Plasma Ion Process.

86

Increased capital to 60m yen. Incorporated Ise Vacuum Optics Corporation in Hisai City, Mie Prefecture.

87

Increased capital to 70m yen.

89

Expanded the plant of Ise Vacuum Optics Corporation.

92

Asahi Techno Glass Corp. participated in capital and management.

98

Vacuum Optics Corporation of Japan (VOCJ) changed its name to Optical Coatings Japan (OCJ)

98

Merged Ise Vacuum Optics Corporation as the Mie Plant. Increased capital to 210m yen.
